Brushes! Brushes!! Brushes!!!

Hey beauties,
Tools matter in all trades as i am sure you know and, looking nice is serious business. lol. Just want to introduce the beginners to the basics.
Calm down, I’m not trying to get you to go on a shopping spree. I just want to help you with general knowledge of brushes and what I think you should own. I promise not to overwhelm you with too many tools. Let’s get on with it…

a)   Face brushes

1. Foundation brush- for foundation application. Usually made of synthetic fibres- to avoid it soaking up all your foundation. It comes in different shapes & sizes.

2. Concealer brushes- for applying concealer to problem areas. Small ones are for spot treatments while bigger ones are used on wider areas such as the under-eye, around the nose and around the mouth.

3. Powder brush- for powder application with light even coverage. (Different sizes are available)

4. Blush brush- for application of colour to the cheeks. It is usually a scaled down powder brush.

The dome shaped & angled brushes can be used for contouring the face.

b)   Eye brushes

1. Flat shader brushes- for packing on colour onto the lids (so many sizes to choose from).

2. Crease/ Contour brushes- for applying e/s to the outer-v and crease to give the eyes definition.

3. Blending brushes-for blending out the edges of applied e/s

4. Pencil/ Precision brushes-for detailed e/s work i.e. putting e/s shadow in small areas such as the inner corners of your eyes and lower lashline.

5. Angled liner brushes- for lining the eyes (using gel liners) & for filling in the brows with powder.

6. Flat liner brushes- for tight-lining (pushing liners into the lashline to ensure proper lining) and to darken the roots of the lashes to make them appear fuller.

7. Smudgers- to blend out the edges of eyeliners to create softer or smokey effects.

Recommendations: flat shader brush, contour brush & blending brush.

c)   Lip brush- for smooth application of colour and blending out harsh lines.

Others-
*eye liner brushes used to apply eyeliner. There are different sizes depending on how you want to line the eyes. Can be used to apply gel liners
*stippling brush is for quick application of foundation. Great for liquid foundation. (mine is actually an elf powder brush & it is amazing)
